We met at the intersection of Hwy 247 and New Dixie Mine Rd at 9am and headed West.
We visited Desert Pee Wee Lawn Jockey N34 15.397 W116 32.537
Desert Pee Wee Lawn Jockey is a local landmark cemented in place on top of a large rock.
After leaving Pee Wee we met up with a 4 door Rubicon. It had a 3” lift on 35’s and it was sweet. I think it belonged to Peterson’s. The driver said he had to fly back to Michigan to pick it up. He gave us some 4 Wheel Drive and SUV Magazine stickers.
Then it was up the Switchback Trail N34 16.220 W116 37.658.
The Switchbacks take a 3 point turn in a Wrangler and a 5 point turn in a Cherokee all on the edge of a mountain with a long drop down if you get too close to the edge. We got to the top and took some pics. If we had continued on it connects with Viscera Springs Rd and 2N02 near Big Bear.
Back down Switchback Trail and over to Johnson Valley Overlook N34 18.617 W116 37.856
We wanted to visit to Willie Boy’s Grave at 34 17.506 W116 32.241 but we ran out of sunlight.
"In 1909, Lucerne Valley was in all the newspapers due to the infamous exploits of Willie Boy, a Piute Indian. From October 16-21, 1909, Willie Boy held the High Desert in a state of panic.
There was a movie made in 1969 about Willie Boy

Back on pavement at 6pm, Dinner in Yucca valley and home by 10pm. Another great day on the trails.
