  • Somewhere ~ "Out There"

Okay, so I couldnt tell you where this place is that we went to this weekend, but Nagal, Barb and I sure had some fun. I can find it again, although at first is was a little "geographicly embarassed". I just missed the landmarks to find the trailhead"

We moved down the trail a ways and I took another wrong turn... [COLOR="DarkOrange"]note to self ~ the 2nd left, after the whoopti-doos[/COLOR]. And we came upon this other rig on the trail.

We stopped before turning around to get on the right trail and aired down. [COLOR="darkorange"]note to self ~ get those thingys Michael had for airing down[/COLOR].

Then after taking the right path, we arrived at what will now and forever be known as "the spot".
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images2.fotki.com/v292/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070018-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Up to this point I was okay, my lil blue toy was truckin along... La, la-la not a care in the world... weeeee...
Then rock fever came a callin... And Nagal answered...

    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images2.fotki.com/v292/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070013-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Which was no problem for his rig... he went back and forth, forth and back on this lil obstacle... but me? Noooo, ole blue wasn't exacly up to the task... oh, I got through one way...
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v295/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070019-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v284/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070020-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

    Not so much coming back.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v3/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070024-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images14.fotki.com/v222/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070027-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

I've got some driveline issues I'll discuss in another thread.

Michael was going to try this route, but we determined his windshield was too high, and valuable.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v297/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070035-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v286/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070037-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

This is where things got more fun. We drove up a wash, or dry riverbed if that's what you prefer to call it. And it had some nice V-notchs in it. Nagal said "yea, that's do-able".
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images1.fotki.com/v290/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070039-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images2.fotki.com/v292/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070043-vi.jpg[/SIZED]

Michael climbing up another spot. You'll notice a theme starting to develop with that. Anyway, the rocks here arent really "rocks". They were kinda hard to get good traction on as they crumbled a lot in some places.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v3/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070058-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v285/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070060-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Coming down was going to be a seperate issue.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v286/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070069-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v296/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070076-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Blue's turn to go up! Not really, that picture is as far as I made it up the hill. Due to that drivetrain issue, hopefully I'll solve it before the AAT run on the 1st.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v283/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070091-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

My drivetrain go so bad, that eventually even little obstacles like this:
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v3/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070094-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Ended with a scene like this:
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images1.fotki.com/v291/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070095-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Michael puts his rock sliders to the test.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v294/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070097-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Barb sees this as a random array of rocks and dirt.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v297/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070098-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

    Nagal see's "TRAIL!"
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v284/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070100-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images17.fotki.com/v293/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070108-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

Another notch we thought was do-able. Which in fact it may be, but not today.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v284/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070113-vi.jpg[/SIZED][SIZED]http://images1.fotki.com/v290/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070114-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

We had to get this picture before we left, and I'm wanting to fix up the CJ, and get "Jimmy Legs" on board for some more adventures. We'll definately invite Michael back, and maybe some others if they're interested the next time we head out there.
    [CENTER][SIZED]http://images16.fotki.com/v284/photos/9/9459/3351560/P3070123-vi.jpg[/SIZED][/CENTER]

I had a blast! I discovered new problems with the CJ and introduced Barb to what rock-crawlin is sorta about(?). There is no "established trail" except the one to get there, but from there you can just explore around and find pretty much whatever you want, no matter what your skill level or I.Q. Nagal, I hope you had as much fun as we did! Definately camp-over potential out there.

          Oi!

Today was a blast. It kind of sucked because I seemed to be the only one doing any trail work. Hopefully we can get the Valdez up and running because I know Nick has the fever now

No pics from me, I was too busy finding spots to abuse my junk in.

The MTR and Beadlocks were awesome! First real test I put them through. Only damage was my spare junk hung/smashed into a rock and tweaked the stock tire carrier pretty good. Its now sitting in the bottom of the dumpster. The tailgate survived fairly well, has a nice dent in it but the hinges are good.

I am so up for doing it again. Thanks to Nick and Barb for having me along.
