    Released to The Daily Independent

Randsburg will host its second annual Bluegrass Jamboree on Saturday, Sept. 20. Featured bands are the Derrington Family Band of Palmdale, Stain Glass of Bakersfield, and the Kern County Gang.

Anyone who would like to do a little "pickin' and grinnin'" is invited to join the Gang.

The James Monroe Middle School String Band will make a special appearance, under the direction of Marla Cosner.

Music begins at 10 a.m. and continues throughout the day.

Other highlights will be a variety of food, arts and craft vendors, face painting and balloons for young and old alike, plus a car show. A hay bale rolling contest will be held at high noon on Randsburg's main street.

Car enthusiasts are invited to come out for The People's Choice Awards, to be held in the Opera House parking lot.

T-shirts and souvenirs from Rand merchants will be presented. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorites.

An evening dinner-dance will be held at the Opera House, with Justus Strummin and Eddy Montana, a popular country-western group.

Reservations may be made by calling 374-1037 or 374-2239.

When visiting Randsburg, be sure to visit the Rand Desert Museum, city jail and the many antique and gift shops.

Vendors and car buffs are invited to participate in the day's activities. For more information, please call (760) 374-2359 or 374-2239.
