Went on a rockhounding trip last weekend with a co worker. Not a lot of 4 wheelin but a nice scenic place. We were very close to last chance canyon but the vehicles with us could not make it throught there. Our first stop was a hill top where we found a bunch of petrified palm root. We then went to the dutch cleanser mines where they used to mine the abrasives for cleaning supplies. Our last stop was the Burro Schmidt Tunnel. Burro spent thirty some years blasting and chipping through solid rock to build the tunnel. It is almost 2000 feet from end to end. Since the BLM has taken over the site vandels and thieves have destroyed the cabins but you can still walk through the tunnel. here is a website for more info about the tunnel. http://www.burroschmidttunnel.org/ There are lot more mines and cabins in the area that you can explore. If anyone plans to come up to the area let me know. I love exploring up there.

Very nice
We are going to be over near Panamint the weekend before Easter in April.
Going to run a bunch of the trails in the area then. We might have to see if we can find this one.
Thanks
