  • Noob/Stocker run in Joshua Tree 2/4

My buddy and I are going out to Jtree this Sat (sorry for last minute notice but it was a spur of the moment kinda thing).

We are going to be doing the old dale mine trail. This is a REALLY easy trail and a good run for stocker jeeps or noobs. Great scenery though and a good place to get a little dirt on the jeep

Only thing we ask is that you at least have a CB and a tow strap!

Hit me up if you wanna go!

While I won't be going on this (working on the heep this weekend) it is a very senic run!

Not sure how you are planning to run it but I have always liked coming in from JTNP over the mountians and then onto Hwy 62.

      Hey skeletor,
Where is this place at? and do you have directions, because I might be interested.

Hey Nagal, actually I've ran it both ways and I found a really cool way that starts out from 62 but its not the standard Gold Crown Road entrance. I have never found the name but I believe its a splinter trail from the Brooklyn Mine Trail. Its a sandy wash that turns into rocks. It follows the Old Dale Mining District and finally connects to ODMtrial.

Here is a PDF map of Jtree (420 kb)

We were thinking if we finish early enough we could do Pinkham Canyon Trail as its a good way to finish the day and get to the 10 fwy.

Drew: Joshua Tree National Park is next to Twentynine Palms (98miles from LA) and you can get there from either the 10 or highway 62

We are planning on meeting in twentynine palms.

again keep in mind that this trail is pretty chill so its a great place to bring the family. I'll be with my wife and 8yr old son. Scenery wise its pretty hard to beat!

Here is a pic from the trail when I ran it last year

Thanks for the map, wish I could go but need to get in gear with some long over due mods...

Is Pinkham Canyon the same as the Geology Tour Trail? If so that is a fun way to get down to the 10, especially at night

no pinkham is actually just below GTT. It starts out kinda boring but once it gets in the canyon its a very nice run. It actually ends right at the 10.

hopefully next time we can meet up!

              Newb to the MAX...

Um, tow chain and walk-E talk-E's? I will have to check the work schedule, we just started a new unit today so maybe it will work out. What time and where to meet up in 29?

              I'll bring extra oil.

                haha hey Valdez
We are actually gonna follow eachother out to twentynine palms since we both are coming from the same area. I see you live in twentynine palms so Im actually open to some suggestions if you have any of places to meet up. Last time we met up at the Starbucks next to the Vons on hwy 62

We were thinking 9:30am meet and be on the trail by 10am.

Thanks skeletor. Since I live in San Diego, do you have a address of this Starbucks that you all meet at.

Ok guys this run is tomorrow (sat) so here are the final details:

We are going to be meeting in front of Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant
73741 Twentynine Palms Hwy (hwy 62)

if you take 10fwy you would take the hwy 62 exit and it will take you into moreno valley then yucca valley and then twentynine palms. Las Palmas is on hwy 62 so its very easy to find.

We plan on being there by 9:30am and will wait for about 15-20 minutes max. Look for a black Rubi Unlimited and a Green ZJ.

We will be on CB ch.4

my cell is 562-277-6269 call me if you are going to be late or you get lost

hope some of you guys can make it!!

Sorry I'm late, and sorry I can't make it. Work is just too out of control right now. I would have loved to go, and since it's a Saturday Mrs. may have gone too... it's no matter now. Be sure to take lots of pictures though and I truly hope this run goes again in early spring or something.

                        Hope you have fun.

                          maybe

ive been sick all week so if im feeling OK and can get up in the morning I'll try to make it out there.

I don't have a CB but plenty of reco gear, so if anyone has a walkie talkie I can borrow it would be great.

I'll probably post to confirm that I'll be going, if I do I'm in a stocker silver TJ.
                          03 TJ. It'll go 65mph...can't complain.
