Hope I can make it. Never wheeled in the snow. In regards to chains do I have to have them with me?

I'd say probably not. It's an extreme trail, even more so because of the snow and rain.

As to chains, bring them with you, make sure you know how to put them on and that they fit. Doubt we'll need them, but bring them along anyway.

          holcomb creek pics
i found these online as the link in the MJR forums are bandwidth exceeded. There is a stock ranger making its way through. the snow will hide alot though i imagine. I dont want to come down hard on a rock on the oil pans, in the "rock garden" areas.
other than that it doesnt look too bad.

I would be the only stocker?

I dont think it would be too difficult of a trail for you at all. Stock jeeps have gone through it. The only thing is that we dont know how much snow is on the trail, if there will be any that even sticks. Do you have tow hooks front and rear?

yes i have tow hooks and a trailer hitch on the rear.
One thing i am concerned with is snow hiding a rock that i drop onto and puncture the oil pans. I don't know how likely that is though.

I do have front hooks and a rear trailer hitch.
I am worried about snow hiding a rock that i come down on a bust an oil pan... don't know how likely that really is though.

The pic link i posted didn't look too too difficult.

The same thing can happen if you slip off a rock even when there is no snow. Its only a few section that are difficult.

i am excited... i would like to get to know the MJR group, but i am not sure this run would be good for a stocker.
I plan on adding a lift kit, etc., and being active on alot of the runs.

Sure is. Welcome to the board. Looking forward to wheeling with ya!

Looks like this is going to turn out to be a good run. Its should be a perfect day 60 degrees. Bring a jacket just in case. Weather can change at any instant and you dont want to get stuck out there without the proper gear. I hoping we can get a few runs in. If we have time, maybe Gold Mountain/John Bull or something. We will play it by ear as we finish up the first run.

I mean I was wrong in thinking a stocker couldn't make it.

To answer another question, this rides open to any and all. As long as you come prepared -- food, cold weather clothes, etc. I (and others *ahem* Supe and Hurley ) almost had to spend the night on a trail last winter.
