  • 5/12: El Mirage Dry Lake Bed - Land Speed Racing!

    Sorry for the late notice!

Its that time again. Come on out an see some fast cars fly across the dirt. There are hills and junk to take your Jeep on too!

We wont be running anything this time around, but if you dont have anything going on its a good waste of a day or 2. There should be some pretty fast cars out this month.

I'll probably be farting around in an old black 29 roadster. If you are out there, and you have cell phone reception, give me a call (see sig) and I'll try to find you.

Here are some horrible directions (they're not mine, so leave me alone):

try www.mapquest.com and enter "el mirage" and "ca"

This is pretty intresting. I knew they had dirt bike scrambles out there, but I didn't know about any automotive time trials.

The airstrip out there at "El Mo" is one that ASI (www.uav.com) uses occasionally for unmanned flight testing. Keep looking up, and you may see a Predator, or one of it's variants.

I've been out there for the time trials a few times, pretty amazing sport. It's been around for a long time and if you like cars it's definitly something to see but watch out, no major sponsers. A sport at it purist form, very cool.

I'll post all the meet dates for the year in the event section. But for reference, the June meet is the 12th.
