Some folks got together to celebrate the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 in the Anza-Borrego Desert. We met at a campground in the Anza-Borrego State Park and used that as a point to go explore.
Here are some pics from the different adventures each day...

We hit the local area. Hiked the Arch Slot Canyon, visited the Calcite mine, Sheep Tanks, Truckhaven, and the Ocotillo Wells 4x4 Training area.

We got up early and went south to the Superstition Mountain OHV area. Fun area! I need to go back soon. Sand dunes, notches, rocky trails with waterfalls.... Good times!
Notches:
Knock on Wood:
Sand Dunes:
Wishbone 2:
We all had to winch up the last obstacle on Wishbone 2:

We hit some of the more remote trails and did far more traveling than we expected for the day. We started on Rodriguez Canyon and Oriflamme Canyon. From there we went south to the Mud Caves, Diablo Drop Off, Fish Creek Wash and through the Ocotillo Wells OHV back to camp.
Driving to the trailhead:

New Year's Day some of the group left for home and other continued exploring. We hit Font's Point, Lower Coyote Canyon, and a small portion of the art at Golleta Meadows.
Font's Point:
Lower Coyote Canyon:
The "big" water crossing is just a mere puddle due to the drought:
From there, we searched out some of my favorite art in the Golleta Meadows:
I made some videos if you are interested in specific aspects of the trip.
