Great pics Jonah! Your shot came out much better than mine did through the Megaphone:
Here's my pics and a truncated version of the adventure
What a fun trip! Years ago, I used to hate the desert, but the more time that I spend there, the more that I find myself drawn to it. This trip just added more fuel to the fire!
I wish that we could have made it up on Friday, but that didn't work out. Instead, Sharon and I got up at Oh-Dark-Thirty and arrived at the camp site just after 8am on Saturday. Better yet, we arrived to a hot breakfast prepared by Kevin's wife, Chris. It was worth the trip just for that!
Sharon and I got some good video that I will share soon, but the pics tell the story fairly well. We started the day with a trip south along the ancient and historic Tidewater and Tonopah RR to the mysterious Desert Megaphone:
Then a little further south to the Bacon Strip (try to contain yourself Chuck): This is a small airport in the middle of freaking Nowhere!:
Mr. Green and Opie just chillin':
From there, we backtracked to the petroglyphs near the Megaphone:
We made our way back along the Union Pacific RR tracks and then ran up Afton Canyon:
We had lunch here:
After lunch, we went to Spooky Canyon. This is one of the best slot canyons that I have been to so far!:
Deep into the canyon, the slot becomes quite steep:
Beyond this, it requires ropes to climb further:
We didn't make it to the top due to the lateness of the day, but I want to go back to explore this canyon fully!
Going back down:
Once back out, we made our way to the Rasor Dunes. But along the way, we stopped at a fantastic old mine and mill structure:
The site had a mailbox, which of course, needed an MJR sticker on it!:
After getting to the dunes, we spent the rest of the day playing there. Great fun! Here's a pic, but the upcoming video will better show the fun we had!:

Here is the first video. I promised Kevin that I would post this after we watched it in camp. I love my new video camera! Video all day and then use the projector to watch the adventures while sitting around the campfire!
It doesn't get much better than that!:

So here's the second video post. I like this clip. It shows everyone having fun in the dunes in several different ways. This was as much fun to watch as it was to drive / ride / slide in!:
