The only disappointment was that we couldn't get Brian (BlackTJ) to take his Subaru through Kramer Arch!Dennis and Tammy

I had a great time this weekend! Hanging with those I already knew, and meeting lots of new folks. Thanks again to all of you who make this site run and keep it a great place with great people!"The Jeep...is a fitting instrument to transport the free people of a free nation with the respect to which we are entitled and the dignity that we deserve."

I arrived early Saturday afternoon. After unloading my camping gear, I went to search for the MJR group who had run Odessa Canyon. I was accompanied by Joe (Joevo) who was trying out his new (to him) 05 LJ. I took him through Kramer Arch on our way to the Odessa Canyon overlook:
We met up with the rest of the group as they were returning to camp. Since Joe had never been to Calico, I took him on a tour of Bismarck Mine, Tin Can Alley and Mule Canyon then to the Gatekeeper to watch Chuck and Justin:
On Sunday I joined Rick, Sarah, Brett (vwtipeli) and his friend Cynthia for brunch at Peggy Sue's. After brunch, Brett and I ran Doran Canyon, Wall Street Canyon Overlook, Stone Cabin and the Silver Bow Mine:
We aired up when we reached Fort Irwin Road at about 3 pm. Brett returned home while I returned to camp, loaded up my camping gear and drove home.
The weather was great all weekend, and I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones around the campfire on Saturday night.Last edited by Russ Chung; 04-23-13, 07:35 AM.If you don't like the way I drive, stay out of the bushes!

More pics!
Most of my video is of the Doran Gatekeeper. I want to try to peel at least a couple of more vids out of the stuff that I have.
In the meantime, here are some of my pics...
The Friday Night Run! Good times! Short, but fun and really close to camp:
Chuck and Trent ran the Gatekeeper before I had a chance to get good video on Saturday morning. But, we still weren't quick enough to get in front of two large clubs that entered Doran from the by-pass. We opted to run Odessa uphill instead. I'm glad we did, after running both, Odessa is the funner of the two this year:
At the top, we stopped and had lunch at the Oregon Mine. Afterwards, several of us went exploring:
We took Phillips Loop back to camp. Several repairs were needed so the afternoon was filled with wrenching and relaxing (depending on your preference). But as it cooled down, Chuck got the itch for another Gatekeeper run:
And he decided to take the short cut back down:
Then we were back to camp for dinner. I found a cool new Mule Canyon Cut-Off trail, that used to be a quad trail, on the way back. SOOooo, after dinner, what night run do we want to do?
Chuck is the only one that seemed interested, so we head to the Gatekeeper for a spectacular couple of runs. Chuck made it up the Gatekeeper faster than I had ever seen anyone. Especially with the rocks in the current condition, and the fact that he did it at night and without a spotter!
He went back around for a second try and this time I set my stopwatch on my phone for a time:
The second run was faster that the first! 2 minutes, 53.77 seconds! Damn!
At night, no spotter, and only mild advice from the peanut gallery....
Back at camp, IDTT lived up to it's name sake. Good times, with good friends:
