  • Trail Run: 11/12/2012 - Annual Honor the Veteran's Veteran's Day Run!

Here we go again! Come honor our MJR Vets on our annual Veteran's Day run! It is not required that you have had prior military service. The only prerequisite is that you love America and have a desire to support those that served us!

This year, I have two runs in mind. It will depend on the weather as to which run we will take.

If there's snow and the trails in the mountains are closed we will do a run through the Ord Mtns. We visit a few springs and a few mines. The is a push to close this area so I sure would like everyone to see this area while we can.

If the mountain trails are open, we'll run 1N01 from Hwy 38 to the Pipes Canyon Campground. We will go to the top of Onyx Peak and check out the awesome views from up there. Then we'll head down Pipes Canyon have lunch at the campground. Just past the campground is illegal locked gate that blocks the historic route to Pioneer Town.

For sure you do not have to be a Vet to attend. I hope you can make it and bring the Willys! That would be perfect.

We will have to keep the floatin' bell hop and the jar head separated. Reminds me of a song: "gotta keep 'em separated..."

Sweet, I'll see about a way of towing it out there then How is the trail, I'm unfamiliar with it. Are there any tippy sections that can't be avoided? I'm a little shy of real tippy stuff right now in the Willys, being that there's absolutely no protection.

I was taught as a young Sailor that Marines stood for My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment Sir....

I'd be down being as I live about 10 minutes from Pioneertown. You can still get from Pietown to Big bear via Burns canyon but its not much of a trail for the most part.
An ugly Jeep with some stuff.....
