Trail Report: Hill 582 revisited

[RAT]

Sunday Mr. Green (Mike&Sharon), me and Amber (off-camber) and her daughter and son-in-law Christina and Tony and daughter Holly went exploring in the Cajon Pass with the intent of going back to Hill 582. We started out on the South side of Lytle Creek and took fire roads across the pass. We stopped at Lost Lake, which is apparently not really lost cuz there were a lot of people there, we drove around looking for new ways to get across the pass without putting rubber on asphault and tripped along the train tracks dodging freight trains. We made it to Hill 582 and found that a nest of rattle snakes had just popped as there were several juvinile Western Pacific rattlers running around, as well as an adolescent that I would guess to be about three years old. So I was in hog heaven. The rest of the crew... not so much. But we all had fun. Watched some trains go by, watched the birds feed at the feeder, then headed out for sushi at Silverwood Grill. Amber drove Mr. green all day and did a wonderful job of keeping all the round thingies down

Good times! It was fun to let Amber drive Mr. Green 'cause I got to test out the truck's 4x4. Too bad that it actually needed it in a few places. Diesels are HEAVY!

Any great trip in the area is only made better by a stop at Silverwood Grill. It was a great ending to a really cool day!

Great write up and pictures. I loved playing in the Cajon Pass area. Thats the only place that I've seen a Southern Pacific Rattlesnake.
