  • Trail Report: Panamint Valley Days

Here is the crazy V notch on Isham Canyon. I almost flipped backwards off the ledge and that would have been very bad. It was crazy and my heart was pounding. I will have a video from my friend and I will post it when I get it. I have done this v notch many times but this never happened before!!

Yes, I know. I have done that notch easily every other time but once my tire got too high up it was too late.

          Another great Panamint Valley Days!

We had another great adventure exploring the Panamint Valley area with great friends! Thanks to Shane and Aleta, Scott (Zoobi), and Jason (Jason) for spending the days exploring with us...

We arrived Thursday around 11:30am and set up camp...

Flat Stanley made his presence known at PVD... He really gets around!

Flat Stanley trying to take over my Jeep... Not gonna happen!

Friday we set out at a nice leisurely pace to see things... Making our way through the canyons...

Had to make a stop at Newman's Cabin

Made our way over to Barker's Ranch

Flat Stanley had a great time at Barker's Ranch

Flat Stanley sitting in the space where they captured Charles Manson...

After Barker's Ranch, we drove back down and stopped at a couple of interesting look-out spots...

We then followed a mine trail up a hillside... very steep incline and fun spot to have to turn around... We went in a few of the mines... and spent some time checking out the equipment that was left for ruin.

We got back to camp a little after dark... The moon rising across the sky was absolutely beautiful!

End of Day 2 on the trails...

Day 3 Report will come tomorrow... I will try to write that while I am on my flight to Tokyo, Japan...
          Regards,
          Randy

Interesting choice of a line, if you had a spotter, you ought to slap him. With this much abuse you might as well come play at the hammers. Would probably cause less damage

Yes I tried to back off and take a new line but he said it was okay in that spot to keep going. I have run up that V notch four other times with zero issues so just a freaky thing. I do play at the Hammers but usually run Aftershock or Clawhammer not the crazy stuff.

Here is my video from my second or third trip up Isham in 2009 making it look easy. Yes, I took the wrong line this time.

                        Looks like a fun trip.

Was there an issue with gas, in town? I heard there could've been a problem.
It was like that when I got here.

Word is the Trona Gas station is closed down. Have to run to Panamint to get gas now, at that shell. Couple of years ago it was 5 bucks plus a gallon. Can only imagine what it is now.

Gas was $5.49 a gallon in Panamint springs now. Trona had diesel only.

I'm confused. There are two gas stations in Trona. Chevron and T-Max. Are you guys saying that both of the Trona stations are out of gas or out of business? I find that very had to believe....
