  • Trail Discussion: Bees nest Motino Wash!!! 9-17-11

We were coming down Motino and came to the last drop which is the first up from the bottom and you can go up over the rock and through the trees or go through the tight boulders I went tight boulders.
I was coming down the tight boulders on the right and was inching through and I got stung and my 4 year old got stung, before I new it there where thousands coming out from under the jeep and my spotter ran and I just goosed it not caring about damage.

They must have a nest in the rocks! Bee careful!

Can we spray them dead or is that not allowed?

Having fun Jeeping on Motino= 2010 Rubicon Unlimited + $15,000 in upgrades

Getting your 4 year old and yourself stung by pissed off bees= pain

Being in the tightest spot on the trail for damage and not giving a crap if anything gets damaged as you hit the gas and pray to get away from the swarm of bees (could have been $1,000's in body damage)

            I say kill them all!

I am definitely bringing bee spray next time and wearing sweats and ducktaping the arms and ankles and going to sneak up on them next time and wipe them out!

              Mark,

That is the same spot from the night run when I and 3 others also got bit., most likely the same nest of Yellow Jackets we stirred up that Night. They are subterranean and can bite many times as opossed to a single bee sting. Whack um baby!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eat their honey combs after the slaughter.
You can lead a horse to water, but it might drown

My buddy got stung there 3 weeks ago...Drove over rocks and a load of bees came out from under his jeep into cab. I was the spotter running like hell. Luckily he only got stung once, thought fersure he was gonna hit the wall though trying to get out of there asap. Just started posting on this forum so Ill be sure and pass that kind of stuff on in future I hate to hear about kids (anyone) gettin hurt. Anyone know will they leave when it gets cold or can we throw somekind of bee killin bomb in those rocks.
I did it just the way you told me too!!!

This brings up a thought. Any time something like this is encountered, please make sure to post up. Some people are deathly allergic to stings. Even though they should be carrying their epi-pen, a little fore-knowldge could help choose a different and less life treatening run.

Ya'all need to be more discrete when talking about stuff like this on a public forum. They may be pests but in a NF they are Gods. You don't wipe out anything without there being repercussions. Please be careful. Both on this forum and on the trail.

                        Thanks,
