  • Trail Report: Big Bear 7/16 & 7/17

Tracy wanted a weekend in Big Bear. We left Norco at 6:30pm on Friday night. Once up the hill we headed for YP30 only to find it occupied. We found a turnout about 1 mile away and stopped for the night.

IMO the North facing slope South of Big Bear Lake is AMAZING. Cool topography and geology around every corner. And the views aren't half bad either.

Saturday night Yellow Post 30 was vacant....not after we got there

Sunset. 1/4 mile walk from YP30 to this view. The road cut in the distance is the Arctic Circle section of Hwy 18.

I like a good fire The benefit of a Yellow Post site over dispersed camping.

We found this COOL tent on 2N93.

Beautiful pictures. I was on a run Saturday but to buys moving to really enjoy and also left camera at home. I ran 2n33, 3N34 up Dishpan and then Holcomb. Was a great day in the Mtns even if I got a bit sunburnt. I always enjoy your pictures and reports Doug.
