  • Organized Event: Official Thread: MJR At High Desert Roundup

Okay, I'm starting this thread to find out exactly how many MJR members are coming so we can secure enough space for all of us.

Randy and I will be selecting a site Thursday night. I'll go home and meet those Friday morning as originally planned:

9:00 AM Velero Station, Lucerne Valley.

I'll be monitoring CB Ch 04 and 2 Meter ham at 146.550 Mhz

Sign up here so we have a head count: http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/ca...c=1&redirect=1

As of now five have signed up.

Thursday night I will post up directions to the camp site as well as the GPS coordinates.

Bring firewood (no pallets or wood with nails)

    Go sign up!!

Yotakiller: Russ & I are leading a stocker run through the Fry Mtns. We leave at 9:00 AM Saturday morning. I believe the start location will be at the Cal 4wd center.

NWS Forecast for Anderson Dry Lake area: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...&FcstType=text

The forecast calls for wind gusts to 45 mph Friday. I recommend those tent camping bring extra rope and heavy duty tent pegs like the 60d nails. Other than the wind on Friday, the weather will be very nice with highs around 80F.

My registration packet says that the HDR headquarters will be at N34º 33' 39.49" W116º 46' 37.63" which is at the intersection of Camp Rock Road and the west end of Anderson Dry Lake. The site that Roger mentioned in the other discussion thread as a possible MJR basecamp is about 1/2 mile east of the headquarters on the south side of the lakebed.

          Roger/Randy,
I may not be up there as early as I thought. I am looking to leave Lakewood by 7ish. Depending on traffic, I think I should be in the area probably by 10, latest. So if I'm the only one you were going to meet at the Valero, don't worry about me.
Since you will be monitoring channel 4, I'll give a shout over the radio if I don't find the camp site. I am waiting to use the ol' "Roger Over, I mean Over Roger":hide: If Randy has the Alabama (right?) flag up, I should be able to find you. Shouldn't be too hard as I don't expect that many people to be there that early.
But, I have been known to be wrong once or twice or....?
          See you guys tomorrow.

            Jason,
No problem - we will also have the "MYJEEPROCKS" banner displayed.

Check this thread tonight, I'll be posting the location, and the lat/long.

Randy and I selected the campsite. It's close to the main area where HRD events will be located. We are sharing a site with the Victorvalley 4 Wheelers.
              Here's the coord's:
              N 34.56042
              W 116.77425

As you enter Anderson Dry Lake from Camp Rock Rd. we are in about 1/8 mile or less and look to your left. VV4W has orange delinators marking their area.

I need to know if anyone will be meeting at the Velaro Station. Jason won't be meeting there now so if no one else is going to be there, unless I get a post or call by 10:00 PM tonight, I will be heading straight to the festivities.

Watch out for Jason guys. He has 35's on that YJ now. Someone keep an eye on him for me please?
Wish I could go, but 3N93 is my mistress right now.

Thanks for the conversion, Dave. Will you be joining us?? I should start looking for the MJR campsite a couple hundred yards east of those coordinates because the wind will have blown Randy that far by the time I get there.

I will be coming. I came to this event a few years ago after I lifted the Jeep and promptly ripped a sidewall on my new MTR's while running Pumpkin Eater. Maybe I'll have better luck in this new location.

I'm still learning my new Garmin, I guess I better go find the command to change lat/long display. This was the default setting.
