  • Trail Report: Red Cloud Mine 3/19/11

    Expedition Portal had their So Cal Desert Rendezvous 2011 this weekend. http://expeditionportal.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=54407

    Over 50 rigs showed up.


    The Black Pearl with a fancy hat


    I went on a run on Saturday to explore Red Cloud Mine and other prospect sites in the area.


    It was a fantastic weekend.

                  BLM and US Government flexing their muscles over there as well.
                  Lots of neat trails and areas lost to Wilderness.
                  Arbitrary posting of No Vehicle signs in sand washes as well.
                  Bombing range pushing right down to and sometimes west of the old Kaiser railroad.
                  Areas that were once open.
                  First I've seen and heard of that 100ft camping limit at the Summit.
                  The Red Cloud trail used to drop down into a wash, y-off, and continue up a sometimes rough and narrow trail that took you to a mountain top and a small mine..small Cat 22 tractor was there..beautiful overlook of the entire Salt Wash drainage.
                  Heavy USBP presence as well due to illegals and dope running thru the area.
