  • Trail Report: John Bull and Jacoby Cyn

I went out today with a hand full of the regular group for a play day in Big Bear. Scott (AVJeepfreek), Scott and kids (Dezertdog), Roger, John Becker and friend, and the great88 met in Lucerne at 7:30am. We headed up to 3N61 Jacoby Canyon (Blue Square) off hwy 18 and met up with Curtis. We aired down and enjoyed the beautiful morning cruising towards 3N16 and Big Bear. At 3N16 we also met up with Mike Pike (Owner of Town and Country Tire) and a friend of his in another Jeep. We then headed to 3N02 and then to 3N10 John Bull (Black Diamond). At the John Bull trail head we alsomet Jeff and Shirley (Scaffoldman).

Thanks for the invite and what a great day with friends on the trail........and around the pool!

It was a beautiful day in the mountains! Thanks Scott (AVJeepfreek) for the invitation. The "Po-boy" did pretty a darn good job today and nothing broke. I did however; get a little rock rash under the passenger door side. Nothing serious that a little work with a couple of 2x4 blocks and a couple of c-clamps can't straighten out!

I see wildman Curtis had to drive over the rock pile at the gatekeeper, it actually lines you up really nice to get past the gatekeeper

Both Roger and Dezertdog did a little metal shaving on the body. Mine was just more destruction to the rim ring. My only slow down was replacing a tire plug that was removed by grinding on the rocks.

Actually today was not very busy on the trails in Big Bear either. We went up there to give Fred's Jeep it's shake down run. Did Goldmountain, so,e peeps there but we managed to pass them with very little trouble.
Then on to JB only 4 jeeps waiting there ran that at the end we decided to head out to Dishpan.
On the way there near the turn of for white mountain we ran into the Ratpack. So after about 30 minutes of BSing we all decided to run JB the other way, so of we went to where we just came from. We all had a blast trying to pick the hardest lines or who could get over stuff without using lockers etc. All in all a very fun filled day

Yea you are right about the upgrades, the biggest upgrade I need now is new gearing. I'm saving up for it, but it may take a while. Anyone have any 4:11 gears for an AMC 20 & and Dana 30 laying around they want to sell at a decent price??

Roger, from my last stint with a CJ7 you need carriers, gears and bearings. Cheapest would probably to find a pair of used axles with the gears you want.

Thanks Art - I've been reading up on what all needs to be done. We better end this high jacking of the tread!

I may PM you with questions as they come up if you don't mind!
