  • Trail Discussion: Johnson Valley Trails

I'm trying to find out what all trails there are in Johnson Valley. I'm looking at doing some moderate to difficult trails out there, but not as hardcore as the hammers. I'm sitting on a 4" lift, 37" tires, but only a locker in the rear. I'm always up for a challenge but don't want to go somewhere and expect carnage on my jeep.
I'm new to the area so trail names and directions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for you input.

Check out Cougar Buttes (Cakewalk & Bullfrog) or Mottino Wash. Mottino would be a few degrees cooler this time of year.

Sage advice and not all that far from ford Irwin, Cougar buttes has some fun trails, Motino wash is fun also, when that becomes dull take a stab at aftershock

I second the cougar buttes, trails.

from what I have heard, for the Hammers, Aftershock and Jackhammer are the current easiest.

I would suggest to start at the Hammers attend one of the larger organized events, Fun in the Desert, Tin Benders Jambo, etc. The experience of the organized trail runs works to your advantage and they list the requirements and suggestions for running the trails very well.
