Isn't John Bull filled with deep snow?

If it is I'll let you now.. but snow never stopped me before from trying. If it is full, it should make it fun.
I am open to any information you might have that I'm unaware of.. weather, trail conditions.. etc.

Has anyone tried going up there lately ?

I know with a name like "Mr. Bash" you can't be afraid of a little snow...

Most of John Bull is on the North facing slopes so there should be plenty of snow to make it fun. Take lots of pics, I have to live vicariously through you lucky F__ks with running Jeeps!

I'am working in BB so I will try and check it out tomorrow. I don't think there will be much snow on the west end, might be some on the east end. The snow is melting really fast. What ranger station are you meeting at?

I entered 3N16 from the east end two weeks ago and the road was impassable after a few miles. The road to John Bull was open and easily accessible I was just thinking the trail might be full of snow. Hope you have fun. Take pics and share please.

So far this year the only trails I've heard were passable were the lower runs into Holcomb Valley and most of the trails off Burns Canyon Rd heading to Pioneer Town. Gold Mountain is doable but very slippery on the back side. We've already had a roll over doing that. Heartbreak Ridge is not as of last weekend. All the roads behind Snow Summit and Bear Mountain are not.

I can't say for sure because none of us in Big Bear have attempted it yet, but John Bull is probably not doable for everybody, but if you chain up and you have a winch you might make it through. I've done it with deep snow before a few times and there are about 3 different winch points we might have to us. I'd give it a try if anyone else wants to do it. I'm sure it would be a fun day. Please have a tree saver strap with you.

Mottino Wash off Rattle Snake Canyon has been open almost all winter. Very short but a fun run.

10:00AM at the ranger station sounds good to me. Lets see what happens.

I have chains and winch... I've done Mottino Wash and it is a blast. If we can't do John Bull I open for anything.

Well I am going up with the family tommorrow, but JB is a bit much for my rig, esp with snow... so if you see a green TJ with tan windows and black flatties give a wave.... gotta drive this beast to work on Monday so I cant risk breakage....and where do I get a forum sticker? Edit: found it and ordered!!!

                    Hey Toolman

I recieved a call on Friday and have to meet with a client on Saturday morning at 9:00AM If I get finished by 10:00AM I'll meet up with you guys. I was told by a couple buddies that if you make it through the JB you will most likely be the first of the year.
Hope to see you guys. Have a great run.

Upload your pics to Flikr, then open a thread here, go to Flikr, open the photo you want to post here, right click it, copy, come here and paste into the thread. Repeat... Works well if you open two browsers; one for MJR and one for Flikr, photobuttit, whatever.
