  • Trail Report: Hammers - March 13 & 14

A group of us got together to run a few trails in JV. Over the two days we ran Spooners, Chocolate Thunder (twice), Jackhammer, down Jack north, Wrecking Ball, Bender Alley, up Jack north, Upper Sledge and Turkey Claw.

It was our first time up Spooners and Stuart and I were expecting something a lot worse. It turn out to be challenging but not the monster we heard it was, although the first obstacle did take out the front ring and pinion of one of the buggies. Once we got him turned around we got though the trail in a couple hours even with a lunch stop.

We only took a couple of pictures of the entrance of Spooners.

Shari couldn't make this trip so I had a stand in videographer. I think he was blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other. Oh well, ya take what ya can get.

Saturday Morning Gerald (Savvy) joined us for the first time. Gerald's a really nice guy with a great attitude, I don't think I ever saw him without a big grin on his face. Hopefully he joins us again.

This is the entrance to Jackhammer. It seems the harder trails are getting easier and the easy trails are getting harder. We started with a fairly large group but after the first obstacle we dropped to six.

That video guys ROCKS man! You should hire him. You know, that climb into Bender Alley sure felt a Hell of alot steeper than it looks in the vids. I noticed in the video that at the point I thought it would start to go back over, the PS front tire was still firmly planted on the ground. The only time it lifts even a little is when you are backing down. Pretty good day for me, I really enjoyed that.

I agree, you did a good job but I'd rather watch Shari get in and out of the Jeep. To bad you weren't with us for Spooners and Chocolate Thunder, I think you've been on all the other trails except Resolution.

I thought the Jeep was working really well until you told me I took an hour and 45 minutes too long on Spooners. :haha:

I kept rolling off the rocks at the start of Resolution, but after that Kurt and I got through it pretty quick. What do you think Kurt, about 14 minutes?

That sounds about right. And the one obstacle you said was the toughest, you rolled up like it wan't there. I think your rig is working very well. Needs more horse power though
