• Trail Report: Rattlesnake cyn. in the snow

Mitch and I had wanted to "get out" this weekend after the big storms...dust free, and SNOW....so a "Rattlesnake" run was planed. Mary, (Skittles), and her friend Dixie, and her Fox Terrier "Dana", (Named after my axles, I'm sure), and Mitch and his girlfriend Dennison and my girlfriend Courtney and I met up at the usual gas spot, (Valero) in Lucerne. We hit the trail head at about 10:17 am and proceeded up. I brought my American Bulldog "Bubbles" along, so the dogs were "the show" for the day. Beautiful day! The temp. hovered around 50 most of the day. What a great day! On the way down Mitch talked to Billy Mitchell, (leaser of the area), and all was good. Great time, thank you all for said good time....or something like that.

Yeah that was an awesome day! 58' and not a cloud in the sky. T-shirt weather in the snow. When the tire tracks in front of us ended at the Joshua Tree forest towards the end of the trail the snow was over a foot deep. Only saw a couple of other Jeeps total today. Quite, peaceful, and so beautiful. I'm loving the new front axle shafts and locker!

Thanks Mary, Dixie, Dave, Courtney, and Dennison for the fantastic day!

Mottino Wash / Virgin snow / no tracks yet!

Dana and Bubbles playing in the snow

Interesting view near Lucerne / Lots of water

Looks like fun, I need to get out in the snow before it melts. Looks like I have some work coming in right now though.

            Mike,

There's plenty out there. I bet Jacoby Canyon and Heartbreak Ridge are deep. What a day.

                Shant,

The hardtop is on to keep my special lady warm and toasty. Missed having you and your grill out there today. Nothing like grilling on the trail in the snow. Let me know when you are ready to get out.

                Mitch

I went over to Running Springs today to measure a kitchen, then tried to go into Big Bear. The snow is standing at 4+ feet at Snow Valley. Cal Trans was cutting a path through with snow blowers. I think the snow will be around for a little while.
