I made another trip out to the Mojave National Preserve on Tuesday. This area is huge and has so many things to explore.
We started this time at Goffs, which is a Route 66 museum now, then headed up Lanfair Rd to Ivanpah. From there we went west over to Cima, then north on Cima Rd to the Kokoweef mountains, then down to Hwy 15 near the Californis/Nevada border.
This is a totally cool area, with great scenery and lots of old mine sites the explore. Most of the mines look like they were abandoned at the turm of the 19th century, though some were abandoned as late as the 1980's. Lots to look at out there.
