  • Trail Report: Calico - Doran loop

I ran up Doran last weekend. Thought others might be interested in the condition of the trail. For the most part, it was easier than last winter, but the waterfall at the halfway point is still pretty hard. Both of us made it up without much drama, and mechanical assistance (winch or strap) was not necessary, but neither of us made it up on our first approach. Took a couple of tries to find the line that would allow the rear wheels to grab.

    It rained on us too!

Braden's super clean LJ on the way to the waterfall:

[COLOR="Blue"]That waterfall has definatly changed. Not sure that a short wheelbase TJ would make it.

I think a locked TJ can do it just fine, based on the photos of those crazy walls those guys in Parker are doing!

Any TJ can make that waterfall locked or not. Might take a couple of tries but its passable. Even some square light jeeps can make it!

We were up there for Halloween and watched several Jeeps have problems with that waterfall. Although it may not have been quite as stacked at that time, we watched both a TJ and a Cherokee damage their right rear panel coming up.
