  • Trail Report: Awesome Canyon

[COLOR="Blue"]We had a great run in an awesome canyon today. We had about 7 rigs that were very well equipped along with great drivers. A great gorup and everyone had a good time.

Barney 2 had some overheating problems, and decided to not continue.

Once in the canyon the fun started. Everyone made it through without any problems...as far as doing the obstacles. 100dollar man broke a front U joint on the JK, but decided to drive out without changing it. So things went very smoothly and we were finished by 3:00.

This is a great canyon and I'll be back again soon. I want to thanks guys and gals for coming out and making it a great day.

    Mike K

Looks like my favorite fire road with some extra credit stuff thrown in for good measure. I am glad you all had a good time, I kinda looked at enough rocks for a day or 2 lol.
Will start fixing Barney2 this week see if we can get that beast to tackle our fire road and then drag us all out to the hammers

[COLOR="Blue"]When it cools down a little we'll have to do it again. I think Andrew convinced Mitch to get a rock buggy.

Awsome pics! The CJ5 (looks like a cj5) with king shocks. Looks like tons of travel? Nice job with the fabrication.

[COLOR="Blue"]I wanted to mention something that came up today. Frank, who followed Steve back to the truck was stopped by the owner of the ranch that is by the start of the Rattlesnake wash.

He said the road to the ranch was private and that the ranch maintains it. He said that driving on it isn't an issue, but he complained about the dust the vehicles make, dirtbikes included. So I think that to just slow down by the ranch is a reasonable request.

He also mentioned that when vehicles stop by the feeding and watering areas, the cows become skiddish and began to avoid going there to eat and drink. Again a resonable request not to stop by those areas when the cows are there.

If you go through this area with other groups, pass this info on to them. Sometimes just a small adherence can make a difference.

              Mike,

Thank you for setting up this run. I had a ball today, running as passenger with Curtis.

****This is a personal request as just stated by Mike K. When we were leaving the trail at 4:30pm and airing up, we had Billy Mitchell (Ranch/Land owner and owner of BLM grazing rights for the lower (North) Rattlesnake Canyon Area. This is his Private Property and is his land and lively hood. He was very nice and pleasant in requesting that we all encourage the offroad users in this area to please respect his grazing rights, to slow down, and please do not harrass or bother his cattle. The springs that the cattle rely on for water is off limits and is to be avoided! Please help us to keep this "corridor" open. There is discussion of setting up hidden camera's in the Wilderness areas off of Rattlesnake Canyon so please stay out of the Wilderness Areas.

Here's some pictures and video from today.

              Air Down

              New Gate Keepers

              Barney II is down!

Mark (100dollarman) playing in Rattlesnake Canyon

Mike K on the special trail

              Curtis

              Andrew

              Don

A little mine tunnel that we checked out

And we bumped into Kevin and Chris (1BADFNFZ) and Carlos while headed back to Rattlesnake Canyon on the way home. And Keving was sporting his HUGE PINK CLEVIS!

[COLOR="Blue"]Something to consider...BLM has been known to set up cameras in certain areas to try and catch offenders.

Shari and I had a lot of fun yesterday wheeling a new trail and meeting everyone for the first time. Motino Wash is a beautiful little canyon with a constant little breeze blowing through.

Mike did a great job as the trail boss, and put us three knuckleheads in the back. Don, Mark and I stayed off the main trail as much as as possible. Mike, Curtis and Jeff were much smarter.
