Can someone make a .gpx track of this route and post it up after the run? I will be leading a very similar trip for a group the following week to include Heartbreak, Rose Mine, Tip Top Mine, Round Valley and possibly Onyx Summit. As I did not have time to pre-run and map the whole run yet, any .gpx tracks would be helpful.

I can give you the old fashion type tracks - Forest route numbers. Maybe someone can GPS the mine locations.

I'll be wheeling in the Sierra that weekend, but I'd love to tag along the next time you do this trip. I've got a place up there & don't know nearly as much as I should about the history of that area.

Mike,

Sounds like you are going to have a good turn out. Take lots of pictures.

This sounds like a great run!

Unfortunately, I'm hosting a bunch of scuba divers at the old Marineland property (now Terranea Resort) in Palos Verdes that same day.

Hopefully, someone will do another run like this in the near future that I can tag along on to learn more about the history of the area.

A CB radio would be good to have for this run if you don't have one. You can get into one for around $100 if you're on a budget. For close range vehicle to vehicle use you don't neet a killer unit.

Places to look:
4 West 4x4 in Colton has a large selection. 909-824-0024
Wal-Mart has a decent unit, a Uniden or Midland.
Radio Shack
Local truck stops.

You can get a portable set up, with a magnetic antenna and cigerette lighter power source if you want to take it from vehicle to vehicle.

I would PM Sarah or one of the other Mods and ask them if they would start a roll-call/sign-up for you. From what I have seen, the Mods are more than willing to help with this sort of thing.
