Let me know if you get to go...if so, I will go too!! I am curious to see all the changes VV4W did to the trail recently...I know they blocked more stuff off and tried to cover up the illegal trails that were created at certain points.

I had intended on meeting up with you guys tomorrow, but as it turns out our transmission is acting up. Though while I can't isolate the sound and it seems to have no effect on anything, it's very scary and I wouldnt want to take it on the trails in this condition. If anyone has any ideas of what the heck this sound could be, I'm all ears. I can go for weeks without hearing it, but it seems as soon as I drive uphill for extended periods of time it starts acting up. I might just be because I'm under load the whole time, but it seems to go away when I turn around and go back downhill and will be fine for weeks on end, until I try to climb a mountain. I will now leave you all with the wonderful sound of my bellhousing.

                  I mfigures out the problem.

                  = automatic transmission

Solution = Change the fluid, wheel till it explodes then replace it with a manual tranny!

                  See You At 11!

Well, the 2N17X run was a nice relaxing run, I never seen an open diff Tahoe take that middle line climb and get 'er done! & it was really nicely done.

Mr. Bash, Thank you for a great easy run, I was able to just tag along and enjoy the view & have a nice time with my kids.

Thanks for coming out Jess. It was nice to meet you and Julie. We had a great time as well. We ended up going down Miller canyon and lit the grill by Miller Canyon Campground. All was well.

                        SAS,
What does it sound like in gear ? Does it quiet down ??
You NEED to get that looked at ASAP !!
It could be a broken/cracked flex plate or lose torque converter or flex plate bolts.
Pull the bottom dust cover and check'em the best you can. More than likely you WILL have to pull the tranny to do it "right"........
                        Respectfully,
                        LG
Hav'n you along, is like loose'n 2 good men....

Sounds like the parking pall is still engaged when you shift it too neutral.

That's what I was thinking... though no one else seemed to throw that out there, so I thought I was alone on that. I'm bringing it in to the tranny guy next week. The hard part is getting it to actually make the sound when I want to. I have to go drive it around the hills before I go.

                            Thanks everyone,
                            Slim

It actually goes away with RPMS. When it first starts to make noise it'll happen very slightly when I first take off from a stop, then it'll start to get worse and happen up to about 1500 RPM and then as it really starts to set in, it'll do it for longer, though ultimately it goes away once I start to cruise. I pulled the cover and checked all the bolts and the flywheel and everything looked good, not even a scratch on the bolt heads. Fortunately the tranny was a recent rebuild and it's still covered under warranty.

The spring probably broke or came loose or a pin fell out and the pall is floating around. When in park does the jeep still roll? Eventually it will wear out if thats the problem.
