Trail Run: 2N17X Sunday

I'm taking my buddy up 2N17X this Sunday with his Chevy Tahoe. Although, he might trade the Tahoe in for a wrangler on Saturday (God I hope he does!).

If you've never been up 2N17X it's a 4-mile climb from Lake Silverwood to Lake Arrowhead.

Regardless of any of that we're headed up 2N17X around 11:00am or so. CB Channel 25. We're going to take our time and enjoy the day. We're also going to take a lot of poser shots because we are noobs to offroading. I'll be in the Bash-mobile taking the easy lines.

We'll stop at the small rock garden area around Pilot rock for lunch. Then we'll probably head over to Devil's Hole or go up Dishpan Springs, it all depends on how the day goes.

Our meeting time is approximate but I'm guessing 11ish should be fine. Meeting spot will be at the Lake Silverwood Cedar Dam.

Shant do you think it's a good idea to take the Tahoo up there? Your friend's Armenian left could get him hurt a lot quicker on 2n17x. Unless he either fixed that thing or gets a Jeep that handlres significantly better on the trail than that big lifted beast, I would be afraid it's gonna thumble. An endo in that big beast will not be pretty.
2n17x is not a hard trail but the marig of error is smaller than Cleghorn.
Seems to me you ought to give him some more 4x4 driving lessons before tackling that trail with him

Idon;t recall 2N17X being that bad. I do recall one spot that gets really tight but other than that I'm sure he'll be OK. I hope he trades it in for a Jeep though

The first climb? You mean the entrance? or the steepest center hill climb?

He'll make it past the entrance. I took him there last Sunday with a JK and he wants to go back and try the steep center climb with the Tahoe.I told him it'snot goingt o make it but he has to try so we'll watch the fun.

I assume that you are talking about Khoren? That Tahoe is not going up the first hill let alone the middle section of the steep one. Don't let your buddy get hurt just cause. Getting him stuck is one thing, but not hurt. Too bad that I'm afraid of that trail, maybe I can meet at Pilot Rock if you go to Devils Hole. I call you at the shop.

Bash.....I keep seeing your rig on the 210 Fwy, and have heard so much about you from Mitch, that we MUST wheel together. In fact, we should include Mitch and have an all out Jeep and BBQ fest.

Next time you see a guy on the 210 drivng a black Navigator wearing a suit and tie, realize that he is not just an idiot honking at you but a fellow Jeeper. You gave me the strangest look two weeks ago. Wish I had a camera.

I don't recall a Black Navigator honking at me....I always look out for fellow Jeep drivers. I'll keep an eye out though.

I just found out my buddy has to be at Camp AYF in Wrightwood that weekend so he might not be bringing his Tahoe. I'm still going though with a yellow JK and a black one. The plans are a "Go".

If you are planning on attending this whelling event, don;t forget to stop by the "Meat" section at the grocery store. This is a wheeling/eating event.

We are heading up there sunday morning also with another group of friends. We are meeting at the dam at 9:00 am. We will warm up the trail for ya.
