• Trail Discussion: 2n84

I was wondering why the MJR adopt-a-trail 2N84 is closed? Is it because of the fires a couple years ago? I was wheeling with a friend around delemar mountain and decided to head that was for the first time and was suprised to see a gate. So I figured I would ask this question where I know I would get the right answer.

You are correct. Hopefully they will be opened this year.

How tough is the trail? I was told it was a black diamond. What is required to complete the trail?

It's nowhere near a black diamond. It is rated "high clearance" (maybe Doug or Jeff can help me out here) by the USFS. There is a very small section of rocks at the end of one of the spurs that is black diamond, but everything else is pretty easy. Very, very scenic from the peak! Here is a map and some photos:

Some representative photos are below. Of course, these were before the fire.

Lot of the trail is like a dirt road

We rate is a Green trail.

Green – easiest - green circle with wavy line through it. Generally passable by all vehicles, types, and operator skill levels. Can be rough, poorly maintained road or trail, but should be manageable for beginners with some effort and challenge.

You might want to ask what's left of Northwest Airlines if they agree with you......I don't think they would.

Out of LAX? All I see here for Air Canada is small Airbus's - hope you're packing spare Jet-A in your carry on

Of course this trail is still close for now, but remember that there is NO DRIVING to the top of little bear peak.

And it will be a lot more fun next winter in the snow.

I guess my questions to the ATT MJR folks is:

How many more hours do you feel will be needed to complete your work?

Is part of the reason for it not being open is because it's not ready yet?

A great big thanks to the AAT - MJR crew!! You guys (and gals) Rock!

The trail is in the burn area, which is still closed. I haven't been on the trail since before the fire, but from what I hear it's in good shape, besides the burn. We have put many hours into it in the past few years, so if there is any work to be done, it's probably just touch-up stuff.

When we were there in March doing Adopt-A-Trail work it was still a little sparse. Hopefully with the snow that it got we will see that growth.
