  • Rockets and Rattlesnake

I am going to the ROC (Rocketry of California) Big launch at the Lucerne Dry Lake on June 13th. This is the biggest launch of the year and there will be hundreds of rockets being launched. Some of these rockets are over 7 feet long and need FAA approval due to flights of up to 14,000 feet. If you have not seen this, or have kids that need something to get there attention this is it. This is a perfect event to hone those photography skills.
I plan to be at the launch site at 9:00am on Saturday, stay for maybe 2 hours and then do some Jeeping. There are a dozen mines in the area, and Cougar Buttes is just a couple of miles away. Any local Lucerne/Ord Mountain trails are OK. -- UPDATE -- We will be running Rattlesnake.

That is awesome! The comments on where space starts were a little bit on the nasty side.

      Rich,

I just grabbed that from Youtube and didn't notice that comments. I have a awesome video that I took, but it is on my Hotmail/email and I can't get it to Photobucket or back to my camera card. It has a lunch with 20 "Goblin" rockets all at the same time. Very impressive to see in person.

When PFJV was putting together their Powerpoint on JV it was really interesting to see a number of pictures how many people were involved with Rocketry. I had no idea. The pictures of the crowds were huge as well as the rockets. The other crowd that had pretty significant numbers were the star gazing groups. There are a lot of diverse users of JV and hopefully that message got through to our politicians.

Wish we were going to be around for the rocket show, but we are going to the River.

Gotta see if the schedule permits, but I definitely want to take my boys to see that.

I like the video of the guy pull his pockets inside out. Should have named his rocket JEEP LOL

Nothing's on the calander yet so this might work. Mitch, if you don't mind, can I leave my tow vehicle at your place again? Then I'll have the Jeep for after.
