  • Trail Run: El MIrage OHV

This is a moderate/ difficult trail located in the El Mirage area Northwest of the 18/395 intersection.

    EL MIRAGE OHV AREA MAP

For a built KJ or stock Jeep it would be difficult in spots (bypasses possible but uncertain) but easy/moderate on most of the trail. There is one section I am hearing is real tough but it is an optional side trail (Snoopys gulch) that the more built rigs will run. I do believe the trails meet back up w/ one another. (will confirm and plan accordingly)

We will plan on meeting up in the park area around 0900, hitting the trail at 0930 and spending several hours out there.

Now here is the catch, It costs $15 just to get into the area these days But I have a couple free passes. (2 as of right now) If others want to come but I run out of passes, you are still welcome, just plan on paying the day use fee.

Please post if you will be there.

google map link is acting weird on my pc so not sure if it is good or not. Worked fine before though.....
Anyhow, LMK if you need directions to the meeting spot. Thanks, John

Do you have a map of this trail. We go out to El Mirage every month for Land Speed stuff. I wouldn't mind taking the Jeep out and trying out this trail.
    Thanks

Only map is in my mind. Been over a year since I was last there and I know the club that made the trail made some changes. As usual, it will be a mini-adventure but tough to really get LOST out there. Come on out, I'll save you a free pass!

The last time we went on this trail Snoopy's Gulch did not go thru. You have to go up it and turn around and come back down the same way you went up. It is definitely not stock vehicle friendly. Some have tried to go around the main obstacle on the left side hill... it's very deceiving, soft dirt and the rigs just slide back down (sideways) - - not a good thing. Other than that it is a great trail from beginning to end and used to be marked fairly well.

Snoopy snow goes through and down the other side of that mtn. I have read that it is just as tough on the back side as the front. As I recall there was only a couple obstacles on the front side and I would call it About John Bull difficult but who knows what changes have been made since then. Regardless, we will size it up when we get there and decide. Sure a few rigs in our group will be ok tackling it.

lats tyme I was out there on fearless follies it all went through, but we did get lost after coming down the back side of snoopy's gultch, the trail gets crossed by so many others. Also, they had to change some of the trail because a portion went beyond the new boundarys of the area, so they lost a couple of really cool climbs. but its a good trail, you will have fun!

Never been to El Mirage before. I'll have to check my schedule, but I think I'm free that day.

We(I have been a member of The Roughwheelers for over 31yrs.)have been marking it, the markers do get messed with. We tried to keep the markers in "line-of-sight" to each other.
At this time ALL the trails go thru. We have plans for more trails out there too.
I think the visitor center MAY have a map of our trails....... NOT SURE.....
Just make sure you bring at least 1 good spare tire if not 2 because El Mirage "EATS" tires......I have lost 5 tires while "cutting" trails and some of us have lost more.....
                Respectfully,

Hav'n you along, is like loose'n 2 good men....

Snoopy's Gulch does go through, and then there is another section after that, that is even better. Just follow the blue ribbon markers if there are any left, and you will find the trail.

                    Hey folks!

I'm going to postpone this run due to cancelations and such, we will try another time. The passes expire Sept. 26th so we will plan a run before then or use them for another location.
