      Scott,

It could be Sunday after the Garlock trip! Maybe this would be fun for Kurt before he heads home. We'll see....

Great post. I've lived up here 15 years and have never explored mines except the ones right around Calico. Are there some maps posted some where? If not a book at least an online book here?

          Gregg,

I've found all of those my by checking the USGS Topo's and by exploring every dirt road and trail I can find. There are not any books specifically about Oro Grande that I have found. But if you Google Search a topic ("Oro Grande" "Gold Mines") and get a name of a mine, then you can Google search that name and it will usually give you a GPS location that you can then find from Google Earth. It's just a basic research project!

            Hey Mitch,
My wife and I are extreme mine explorers, and haven't been able to get out to the Ore Grande mining area, much in part of, I have no idea where they are, We are still stuck in the Calico area finding some mines that arent even on the topo's. We'd be interested in a tour in the near future. Interested?

                Kirk,

I would be happy to show you guys that area when ever you have the time. The great88 will be down for a week or so awaiting a new front drive shaft, u-joints, boom-a-rang shackles, and a couple of other repairs. Send me a PM and we can set a day.

                Nathan,

This looks like the book that Roger saw. He was right when he said that he should have grabbed one for me. I need to get a copy of this book! Thanks

                  Mitch,
have you been up to the Silver King? That is an excellent mine exploration, especially the mine shaft that is on the west side of the Silver King mountain, and directly below it. We have tons of pics of both of them.
