Also, If there is any interest in an easier Calico run, PLMK ASAP as we could run an easier series of trails up there too.

      Calico Sat.

I would like to go on a moderate trail. My experience is about 1 year, mostly at cleghorne. Not to much of the rock stuff. I will keep checking for up dates.

This trip I wanted to run up Doran and Down Odessa.

While I would like to run the harder stuff since I have not in a while, IF we can get a few that want to run an easier route, I have one in mind. I would call it Moderate but don't let that scare you. While Calico is feared because of the Gatekeeper at the end of Odessa, it is not an obstacle that you have to run or that we will run (unless someone wants to do it on their own while the rest of us oooh and ahh..)

As for teh easier run, I honestly don't have names for the trail sections but it is fun and very doable in a high clearance suv/Jeep. we have had newbs on it and they enjoyed it very much, just the right mix of difficulty and scenery.

Gatekeeper in Odessa? There is a "gatekeeper" at the beginning of Doran that has a bypass.

But Odessa has that great jeep (or Bronco!) eating off camber "Squeeze" area.

Odessa.....Doran.....I can't keep them straight. Anyhow, There is only one "Gatekeeper" .....though you don't even have to go anywhere near it to run any trails in the area.

oh and there Aint NO way I'm trying it......I'm still too fond of my currently straight sheet metal and I'm not destroying it on That one section of trail. Maybe someday in my Xj though.....

Just a quick note for folks that don't come up much. As you stand on calico rd. And read the sign. You will see that you are about to drive, and enjoy, scenic duran drive, one loop. The trail on the right(e)the 4x4 folks like to call odessa, the trail one the left(w) we call duran. Duran has the gatekeeper, south end, w/bypass. The loop is difficult but can be done if you have a guide, or skill.
I have a question. Is anyone going to lay out the easy trail or are you just going to guide it? I'll try to be there, anyway

Unfortunately, I only know the "easy" trail by having run it once a few months back. I know I can get us "LOST" On it no problem though so show up and lets see where the trail takes us! I can run either hard or easy, doesn't really matter to me since I just wanna get out and wheel.

So you all know.... though the normal "hard" trails can be tough, the KJ's in our club have run it dozens of times over the years and other than some minor bruises here and there, we have all made it out unscathed. I know there might be a couple tough spots but I'm sure we can get most any decently setup, non-stock, Jeep through the trail. As long as you have recovery points, decent tires and skids and Some driving skill, it will be fun.

                              east or west phillups?

I know that with most rigs on this site those 2 trails wouldn't pose any challenge. If there are some stock or slightly modified vehicals that might be a good run. There is a good mine where west and east meet, and you could meet the rest of the group at the top of odessa.
