    Iit's alive,!!!!!! Alive!!!!!!!!!

Pulled the Ol' girl in the garage today, and pulled the air conditioner off to get to the valve cover on the driverside, and Lo and behold, the #5 exhaust rocker nut had backed off, and the rocker came loose. Rulled the push rod and no damage, reattached everything, ran the valvess, center punch the nuts so they don't come loose again, and changed the oil and filter. I am one happy camper. The beast is ready to go, LETS ROCK, Kevin.

Pulling the Cruiser in to day to check it out, probaly the timing chain. Pulling the Grand in first, to look for a small water leak. By the time I get the Cruiser back and running, the snow will be all gone. Going to have to pass the honors on to some other brave soul. Thought about taking the Grand Cherokee with its mighty Quadra drive, but then I think what Forest would say, ( stupid is, what stupid does) think I'd better pass on that idea. Heading for the garage, Kevin.

Well Kevin, a group of us were on 3N03 Friday, Just on the other side of the Highway from Jacoby, and at the top where it meets 2N02 there was lots of snow & ice for a few miles west. I don't think there was enough testosterone amongst us all to try Jacoby!

    Keven,

We were saving that honor for you! Friday we hit a lot of ice on Cactus Flats (3N03) and foot deep snow everywhere there was shade. I bet Jacoby is just about like you left it. I wouldn't have a chance after what a little 18" patch did to us. Let us know how it is.

Yeah next week when I get back from Pennsylvania, I'll pull the beast in and pull the valve covers, and start checking things over. My son-in-law mention that it could be something as simple as the clamp that holds the dist. in could have come loose, and it shifted on me. One can only hope that it could be so easy. Just got my partners Cherokee out of the garage, been working all week on it, puting an engine together for it. Now he has to do the brakes, and sevice the tranny, I'll supervise, then we'll have another MJR member.

Retarded Timing also causes intake backfire and loss of power and high exaust tempature. Timing is the easiest too check first. After that move on to the valve train.

If it idles good but pops in the intake at higher rpm seems to me one of the exhaust valves is not opening check all pushrods and rockers pretty sure that's where the problem lies

Check your rockers and valve springs, if you were "on it" as I suspect you were you might have just poped one off, or actually broke a valve spring.

I started up jacoby myself around 3:45 today, no chains, it was slick! I stopped on top of one of the hills and thought about the "Donnert" thing also! We were out in Johnson Valley all day. We thought we would go to BB for dinner, just didn't want to be half way and spend the night. No boots, no coats (since we were in the dessert all day wheelin') snow runs have their place, lots of work, and be ready!

We were playing on the Bullfrog, a nice easy going trail.
