  • Trail Report: Snow day

I took the family out for some snow wheeling up the south coast trail and had a blast. This was back on the 20th just after the big snow fall and we were the first rig to try the trail, we made it about 3 miles in before we decided to turn around due to the deep snow and being the only people on the mountain.

cutting the trail was a blast snow is 3 feet deep

we made it about 10ft up this hill then slid back down

this is me standing on the trail

when the jeep gets stuck I make my wife get out and pull.

    to much fun

          Larry,

Nice photo's with the family. Good idea to not adventure too far in the white stuff alone. I got stuck real good last week in Phelan and still can't figure out why. Looks like a fun trip.

Us so cal guys dont get to play in the snow much, gets tricky after you dig down about 2 feet and start to spin all 4 wheels on the ice, just back up and punch it to keep going, what a blast

Yep, have to agree, cool snow pics. We went up Bird Springs Road thru Horse Cyn from Dove Springs area north of Red Rock Cyn last Sun. Was a great day in the snow until about the Sequoia National Forest boundry then the snow got to deep for being a solo vehicle, will be returning there after the snow melt and try it all the way to Lake Isabella.
That rear bumper on your Jeep looks very familar, did you make that top half swing portion yourself?

yes sir that is your old bumper, and I made the tire carrier myself. it took me about 3 hours and a 12 pack to make. The hardest part was finding the nut to fit the shank off the bumper.
