  • Trail Report: Lytle Creek 12/15/2008

I woke up yesterday and when I saw how much it was raining I just knew Lytle Creek was going to be packed full of snow. The jeep was nicely packed from the weekend. I quickly fixed my rock lights and replaced the fuse for the light bar. I took some chicken breast out of the freezer along with some pork chops, tomatoes, olives and my wifey and headed up there at noon.

Sure enough...pure white mountains and it was still snowing. I stopped on the side of the road and lit up the grill.

After we finished eating I headed deeper into Lytle creek on 3n33 towards lone pine canyon road but I stopped because the snow kept getting deeper. I believe it was a foot and a half.

Right before I was going to leave I heard an engine revving up ahead and soem guys yelling....I knew, they were in trouble.

I was down to 10 PSI and not worried about my procomps, I headed up there and ran into two chevy pick-ups wit street tires stuck in the snow.

I gave them my shovel and told them to start digging up the snow aropund their diffs. I strapped up the first chevy and yanked him right out and kept dragging him down to a wide a safer spot with less snow. Then I went back up for the other and did the same.

Lytle Creek is packed full of snow and it's pretty deep. Let's get a run going there so we can play before the snow melts...maybe tomorrow if anyone is available. I've got the pics and I'll upload them later on.

            Mr. Bash,
Based on your inital post, it reads as though you took your wife out of the freezer with the pork chops, tomatoes and so on.........After looking at those great pics, it looks as though she is still in the freezer.

I would not mind going to play there for a bit in the early afternoon, have to be done before about 4.30 pm though to make it to work on time

I'm soo freaking glad to see that much snow up there. If it does that three or four more time this winter, spring is gonna be awsome! Looks like a good time Shant. Don't cha just love pulling big trucks out of snow with your itty bitty Jeep?

Yeah, the wife in the chair next to the grill in the snow, lloks like one of those ice fishing pictures from Minnesota or something. Your a lucky dude, no matter what I promised to cook for my wife, she'd be no where near that scene.
