  • Trail Run: Big bear area trails

Anybody heading up to the big bear area this saturday? A couple of friends and i are heading up in the heeps to play in the snow and wanted to link up with some more people for a nice sized group. Bear is expecting some big storms to drop snow almost all week long so it should make for some interesting trail hopping. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks

No real plan yet....any suggestions? We would like to get an early start and are pretty much open as far as trails go. A couple of the people coming with me have never driven in snow so they need to be broken in. I know bear is getting hit hard with the snow right now so does anyone know if chains will be required to get up there?

                            Big Bear Conditions

Here's what's going on up here in Big Bear as of 9:00 AM on Weds. Where I live in Moonridge, we recieved about 2 ft of snow from the first storm on Monday and we've gotten about another 8 to 10 inches again overnight, and it's still snowing very hard righ now. My guess would be that there are at least R2 road conditons up here and possibly R3. That's 4 wheel drive and chains.

I'm pretty sure areas like Gold Mtn and John Bull would have about the same amount of Snow and it's getting deeper by the minute. Probably close to 3 ft or more. All I can say is it's Nasty out there.

I'll send out another report on Friday if you guys would like. Keep you fingers crossed. If it ever stops snowing it will be lots of fun out there.
