See you guys out there! We'll be camping and meeting both Sat and Sun at 9am at the Ricardo camp ground. Sounds like we'll be running Nightmare on Sun unless the rangers open it early. If we don't see you at the camp ground, I'm sure we'll bump into each other on the trail. We'll be on channel 29.

Hey Shadly . . . that's a bummer . . . if it's not too bad, come on out . . . I'll have my stock TR off my TJ as a spare if you need it (full assembly rod and both ends)

        5:45am Saturday morning update!

The Santa Clarita 5/210/14 freeway area is CLOSED DUE TO FIRE!
Caltrans reports a detour is available, but if you have the option, might want to take the 395 highway instead.

Rickashay, Mr. Orange, and Schmo are stuck here in the valley . . . we're going to give HWY 2 a try and see if we can hop over the mountain from Pasadena to Palmdale. Somebody tell Josh we're on our way but will be late if you see him.

Well after a bit of dodging fires and road closures, we left the smokey, windy valley and made it out to Red Rock. It was perfect out there . . . no wind . . . warm during the day and pretty chilly at night. Did some light wheelin and exploring on Sat and then met up with a few other Jeeps and ran Nightmare and Last Chance today. Had a great time . . . no major carnage (despite several valiant attempts from Josh) . . . I think the carnage count was one drag link, one tire, and one front fender.

            So where's the next trip???

I think I saw the tail end of you guys on Nightmare. We were coming down into the canyon running reverse, and you guys were just cruising past the exit hill and continuing on up the hill. I can't remember what the two Jeeps I saw at the end of the line looked like, but there was an attractive tallish girl in a green tank top spotting for the last Jeep. Sound like you guys?

Where is the exit point for Nightmare if you keep going past the sidehill? Someone posted earlier that it's closed, but I am not so sure. There are lots of newish signs all over this area, but nothing indicating that the last part of Nightmare Gulch is closed.

Well I got there friday afternoon. I made some desert runs to cal city at night.

Was a nice first night. Was cool with no wind. Got a little chilly at night.

Woke up next day going into cal city to get some grub. With all the choices of places to eat it was a tough decision.

I got cell signal and found out from dave about the fires shutting the freeways to here down.

So I decided to go up jawbone and go the back way to our campground. it was a long way back.

finally got back to camp and joe and dave were arrived after about 5 minutes of coming back.

So we went on some dirt roads to go shooting.

found some fake petroglyphs as well.

got a bunch of video I am uploading. well post as comes available

Sunday. about 10 or so jeeps met up at the trailhead.

we took this nasty crossover road. I have to say I wasnt big on it, but I made it without a problem. I am getting better at these off camber on a side of a cliff I am gonna die roads now. I only took a couple pics of this section

This pic was good. Gave me a laugh.

had an awesome weekend. Met another great group of people. Will post up more pics as I get them

Looks like you guys had fun. Can't wait to go on a run. It's been scary as hell just driving around town in the wind with my messed up steering. I picked up the steering setup with replaceable TREs on every end.

Josh, it's been a few months since I've seen your Jeep. Looks good. I was kind of expecting it to be a bit more caved in and flattened since the last time I saw it

ha ha ha. Good one. I am waiting to find a roll cage before I flatten it or cave it in. havent found one yet.

yeah man you missed a hell of a time. Planning on going to calico again in beginning of december. you up???

There's typically a mud hole about half way up the canyon that can be a real mess. How did this spot look this year?

well we went around the mudhole. up on the right. then joe ran over a tortoise.

and we ran out of clays and used falcons.
