  • Trail Report: Nightmare Gulch, Last Chance

An awesome run on nightmare gulch, some mines, last chance canyon, and a fun run thru the desert.

I showed up Friday afternoon. Setup camp at Ricardo campground. Then later that night I had to get some gas for the next day and baja'd it california city.

Saturday morning I went to the camp station there and checked out what they had inside. Was pretty neat assortment of fossils and some history of area.

Then Rick and Joe showed up with their co-pilots. Got everything laid out. Then took off to Nightmare gulch. No water in it. But was still a great time with plenty of big rocks. Some parts of the trail is covered and it seemed like there was 2 trails on it at times. Anyways was fun. Was my second trip out here and enjoyed it again.

We went to explore the borax mines. I think they are.

Then went up some ridge trail down to some steep hills. And then ended back up at Last chance canyon. We played on the v notch. Where Rick tweaked his front fender. then headed back to camp and celebrated a fun weekend.

Hey! I met you guys on Sunday coming backwards through Nightmare. I was in the white Ruby, and my friend in a green Land Rover.

Later we passed that sweet 4 door Unlimited being towed behind an enormous RV. Nice combination of toys!

That wasn't us . . . we ran Nightmare on Sat and headed home early on Sun morning. I think I saw that Unlimited behind the RV . . . it was pulling into the campground when we were pulling out . . . it had an EVOLUTION sticker on the hood, right? Sure was nice out there!

I'll be out of town for the Panamint Days, But like Josh said maybe we can put something together for the Red Rock area toward the end of next month, Hopefully the weather will be half as nice as it was last weekend.

we passed a couple of groups on Saturday. Some 4 runners I believe and the big group we passed had some jeeps, toys and some others in it.

We wanted to go Sunday but I broke some stuff and didnt wanna chance any major probs after that.

And thanks to Rick's jeep I got my first time spotting someone. I tweaked his fender but as the saying goes, you have to learn somewhere.
