Trail Report: calico day run

well the trails has changed out there somewhat. The campgrounds and the wash are way different. I had a hell of a time getting by tow rig out of there.





we played in the arches for a minute







then went to the gatekeeper to check it out. just the entrance to the GK has changed with big rocks and a wash.

there is a 7 foot hole that can easily be climbed over



and the bigger hole at the top is half way filled in

now running up odess about 1/4 mile in or so. we found a like new tent cooler full of guinness beer. and the water in it was cold. this was new. no dirt on it or anything. anyways we left and headed up.



then we hit the water fall on lower odessa.



we did the spot where the mountain is on both sides- the ledge I guess. Deep in two spots and puts you at a weird angle. here is a vid

That spot doesnt look wash out too me Look like you guys had fun. I know we did at heartbreak ridge.

I dont think I took a picture of the spot. It has washed away the rocks that were on the side of it. But pavement is still there.

This actually looks like it's filled in alot. Doesn't look as deep.Is that just the camera angle?

cheap camera. it lies alot. GK is different as that new hole in front. you would have to compare the pics to something else to see if it is different.

none of us tried. there were about 6 buggies in it when we were leaving. they were pulling someone out.

Hey I passed by Calico this afternoon on my way back from Vegas. It sure was hit out there. Glad you were out having fun. As oon as the weather cools down a bit I'm up for Calico. Probably in October or so. Thanks for sharing; great pics. See ya soon!
