Did the heartbreak ridge trail, except for it being way in the tulies its a barrel of fun not quite as difficult as John Bull but just a lot more of it. The roundtrip from Ontario was just shy of 160 miles not bad for a little evening drive. To get to it I opted to enter from the Balwinlake side instead of HWY38 I figured it would be easier to find this way once on 2n02 its still quite a drive till you get to 2n61y

after awhile you will see another sign for 2n61

Quite a ways after that you will see the first trail on the righ its not the one you want if you see this old truck down the road

you need to go back to 2n61y and continue on for a bit
the next right is the trail you want its unmarked.
once you follow that for a little you can go 3 ways
To the direct right is the old pontiac

to the left is what looks like a trail but its not what you want it dead ends and its a bear to turn around just ask me how I know

Once i got out of that I was on the right track and this is the far right trail, I got confused since I wanted to do the left brach of the heartbreak ridge trail which a bit more challenging, this comes up about a mile or maybe a bit more down the trail you cannot miss the fork in the trails this part is not teribly difficult but definitely fun

Anyway half way up the left side of the trail my camera ran out of batteries so that took care of the photo fun.
when you go right it has less rocks but some pretty steep climbs
There was a wonderfull clear sky out and I haven't seen this many stars out in many years it looked like there were clouds of faint stars in the sky was a pretty amazing sight. After all this pleasure it was a long drive back this time ai took the 2n01 back after backtracking on 2n61y. 2n01 is a vere well graded road so I made very good time to highway 38
It exits by the juniper flats campground which sits back from the highway a bit but it has a sign for it on the side of the highway
