  • Trail Discussion: Rubicon Trail 2008

I have been lacking in the photo department lately. So, I'm making up for it with our Rubicon Trip. I'm still working on the trail report, but here's a glimpse if you're interested.

I think this is my favorite so far, but I do still have a few more to upload.

    More coming soon!

Wow you guys went up the Sunday we were getting off the trail? I thought Al mentioned something about Tammy and Chris going up there but then forgot about it. Would be great to see you guys again at some point!!!!

Wish you would have gone with us. We really did not get hung up behind anyone.

Well there was this one little 'zuki with a spooled front and no power steering ...

j/k j/k!!! Was fun watching that pirate flag bounce around up front going all the way from vertical to completely horizontal at times in any direction

THanks guys, and wish we could have made it with ya's too. The dates just weren't working out for us this year due to work schedules and available days off. We ran across a few people Monday and Tuesday but no big groups. We set up camp at Rubicon Springs Sunday night through Wednesday morning so it was nice to not have to move each day, but we didn't get to see the whole trail because of it. The trail was very very very clean! I know we also just missed a workday, so I'm assuming they did a really good job.

looked like you guys went up Big Sluice, that right? How did that treat ya?

I will be on the trail this coming sunday-saturday. Going from wentworth to the springs and then back. I am very excited about doing it in reverse, it will be the first time for our group. Nice pics

Nice pictures Sarah. Glad you guys had a good time. Missed the Rubi this year. Maybe next year. It's nice and quiet going in on Sun.

Thanks guys! I still need to grab the photos from Rick's camera and get them up too.

Running the trail in reverse was quite different. Going up Big Sluice took way longer than coming down it, in the same way that Cadillac Hill was hardly tough in reverse (coming down). Way fun though, and you'll get to know the trail much better seeing it from both sides. Have a safe trip up there, and check in with the ranger station before you leave - the smoke blowing in from the fires is hit or miss, and no open campfires were allowed when we were there.

yea I figured about the the no open fire thing. I think we have only been allowed a fire like the first time I ever went in 05. I am very excited about running the trail backwards.

                      keep those pictures coming!
