  • Trail Report: W.E. Rock Round 3 Cedar City, Utah

I just got back from spending another 4 days in Cedar City, Utah with Dustin & Becca Webster for the W.E. Rock round 3 rock crawling competition. Friday night, I got to ride passenger in Becca's Rockher crawler while she practiced for the competition. Saturday night, Becca rode passenger with me in the Desert Jewel as we crawled thru many obstacles. Dustin took their King of Hammers Jeep and was the leader. He spotted me thru the first course Becca ever competed on. It was such an honor to have him spotting and Becca riding passenger! Sunday evening, Dustin spotted me in the Desert Jewel thru some really scary obstacles. He would get a little smile & then chuckle when he was taking me thru something that could get ugly...as soon I saw the beginning of his smirk, I knew I was in for a good time. At one point he started laughing and said, "I have no idea how the DJ is going to pull thru this. It is a really ugly drop and she might just roll. Are you sure you're ok with it?" Being that I hate to back-up, I continued forward...sure do wish we would have had someone taking pictures, cuz it was really tipsy! Dustin really put the DJ to the test!! On Monday, Becca took me out in the crawler again going thru some of the courses that she had problems with and then some....it was truly amazing what that thing will do!! On one hill climb, we were so straight up all you could see was sky, she said she had to look at the trees beside us to see if we going forward or slipping backwards...whoa! Then we turned around and went down it and she stopped with us just dangling by our seat belts...it was so awesome! Before I left to head home, Becca spotted & videod me driving the DJ thru a portion of one of the Stock Mod courses where there were lots of roll-overs in the competition. First I went up it and then came down. However, the first attempt down, the DJ slid and the only thing holding her from rolling was the big boulder in front of the passenger rear tire. You can tell I was in trouble by Becca's reaction on the video. That was the first time I truly didn't mind backing up! They have taught me so much and really made me feel like part of the family. I can't wait for the next event in Donner Ski Ranch in July!!

This is Becca on course A2, the 2nd to last one for the weekend:

This is Becca on course A3, the last one for the weekend and she got the best score of the day on this course. This video in almost 10 minutes long and was too big for photobucket:

This following are of Becca spotting me in the Desert Jewel:

This is the video where the DJ slid into the boulder, at first when I couldn't see her she was spotting verbally and once I cleared the crest, she is spotting with hand sigals:

Thanks guys!! I am having such a blast since the show! The Webster's have been incredibly awesome and have taught me so much. There hasn't been a trip out with them yet that I haven't learned something. It is truly amazing what the DJ will do now with her new setup!
