High Desert 4 Wheelers are meeting at Primo Burgers in Mojave at 8:30 leaving around 9-9:30, since you guys are meeting at the ranger station at 9 you should be ahead of us by a good amount of time. Just so you know, anyone is always welcome to join us on our runs - member or not

we did the trail at the end of september after a good deal of rain and the watercrossing was a few feet deep - but easily passable

Perhaps we will be ahead of you. My club is not called LOST JEEPS for nothing....... Heck, if you guys don't mind we might just let you get ahead of us so we can follow. We will wait at the ranger station for straglers and when you go by we will follow. We should have a couple IFS rigs w/ us anyhow that might need some creative spotting so probably best if you are ahead so we don't slow you down.

Please be respectful of the trail and the area in general. Particularly the water crossing shown above. The Jeep pictured is crossing the obstacle appropriately. It's not appropriate to attempt to run through the full length of this obstacle turning it into a mud bog competition. Everyone's understanding is greatly appreciated.

          Thanks,
          Terry

Good points guys and thanks for the reminder. As a member of CA4WDC, BRC, UFWDA, and a donor to many trail access orgs and volunteer for the trail adoption program in San Berdoo, I appreciate our trails and would hate to see us lose any of them. Tread lightly or stay home.

                Lost as usual......

Can anyone that has been to the trail head for sure point me to the appoximate starting point/trailhead of the trail?

Do you enter off the 14 or off Randsbrg rd? I am starting to think there are two possible ways in?

You can enter the canyon from either end. The trailhead off of the 14 looks like this:

Looking back at the 14 has a view like this:

It is not far from the Ricardo Campground entrance. The trail winds down and around to get to the canyon entrance. Look for the Birds of Prey Nesting signs and turn left into the area. The trail leads into the canyon.

You can also get to the canyon going down hill if you come up Last Chance Canyon first. It is a little harder to find from that directoin if you haven't been there before.

Good Luck! It's a great trail!

Please note!! We will be moving the meeting time to 0930 at the ranger station and the plan is to meet with the High Desert 4 Wheelers group that is running that day too. We will keep an eye out for them to drive by the ranger station and then follow OR, we might run up the 14 and find the spot near the trail head where we can meet them.

PLMK if you have any questions.
                      Thanks!

The trailhead is about .9 miles past the turn-off to Richardo Campground, on the right hand side. GPS Coord is:
                        N35 22.631 W117 58.840

I uploaded the GPS Track on the site here, in the GPS/MAPPING section.

                          Nightmare Gulch

I’ll be there with one other jeep……I plan to trailer my rig and park at Richardo Campground for the day, then meet everyone at the trailhead before 9:am. If there’s time left in the day, is anyone up for Last Chance Cyn.? What CB Channel will we be on?
