SAN BERNARDINO, CA Beginning today, fire officials have opened a
centralized fire information center to provide information regarding the
Sawtooth and Millard Complex fires. This information center will provide
fire information for all three zones of the fires including the Millard
Complex north of Cabazon, CA, the areas of the Sawtooth Complex near Yucca
Valley and Morongo Valley, and the higher elevations of the Sawtooth
Complex southeast of the Big Bear Valley known as the Heart Zone. The fire
information center number is (909) 383-5688.
Currently there are three incident management teams working on the Sawtooth
Complex and Millard complex fires. Each of these teams have been assigned
jurisdiction over separate zones of these fires and are coordinating their
suppression activities together on a daily basis. By providing information
directly to a single fire information center, the incident commanders of
each zone will be able to improve the speed and quality of the information
available to the public.
The Forest Supervisor for the San Bernardino National Forest, Jeanne Wade
Evans, says, “Before these fires, the forest has maintained a positive and
open relationship with the public as we have worked together to effectively
manage our forests. We will continue this by providing people with a single
source of information about these fires.
In addition to the fire information center, residents and other interested
members of the public can view fire information on the web at
www.inciweb.org, or continue to monitor local radio stations including:
RADIO STATIONS to monitor:
95.1 FM Valley/High Desert/Mountains KFRG
98.9 FM High Desert KHWY
102.3 FM Victor Valley KZXY
107.7 FM Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree KCDZ
