From USFS
"I would like to remind everyone that we are currently at a Fire Danger
Rating of "LOW". This means that campfires are currently legal both within
and outside of designated sites. A valid California Campfire Permit is
needed for fires outside of designated sites, that is for dispersed
camping. Fire permits are not needed at fire rings in campgrounds, yellow
post sites, and picnic areas. Barbecues, campfires, and stoves are allowed
at dispersed as well as developed sites at this time, although a fire
permit is needed for dispersed locations. This is sent for clarification
of our Forest Policy, given that most of us have been dealing with the
drought for the last few years."
