Crazy Idea to keep the Trails open!

In the last few months my wife and I have been out Geo Caching. The Forest Service asked for the trails to be mapped, showing which trails are being used. I was wondering if Geo Caches where placed and maintained on the trails, this would be able to get the general public in helping to keep the trails open. People that would not think twice about taking a trail ride for fun, But would for the cache.
