  • Nightmare Gulch-update & action needed!

Update on Nightmare Gulch! The OHMVR Division of California Parks & Recreation sent out trail experts to examine Nightmare Gulch. Conclusion is that the trail is sustainable, but does require repairs. California Parks & Recreation is not able to complete any repairs until a Travel Management Plan has been completed for the Red Rock Canyon State Park. We need to make our voices heard that we WANT this travel mgmt. plan completed so repairs may proceed on Nightmare Gulch. We are asking all our members and the OHV community to call the new Sector Superintendent for Tehachapi District, Kathy Weatherman, to voice your concerns. (661) 724-1206 is the number for the Tehachapi Sector. Please call and let her know we want the travel mgmt. plan for Red Rock Canyon State Park completed ASAP so repairs can be made to Nightmare Gulch!! We need at least 20 to 30 individual calls made every month until they move forward with the Travel Mgmt Plan. If we don't make noise no progress will be made!!

This update is from Linda at CORVA bottom line we need to call it's been almost a year since the State closed Nightmare so I am asking for help to make noise about this closure and get this trail open.
    thx

Spoke with Russ, he sounds sincere on getting the trail open. If you want to receive information on the work in progress, send your email address to russ.dingman@parks.ca.gov along with you name and a short message. Dave
