I'm headed for Utah on Saturday and if the Government is still shut down I am seriously considering a side trip to Paria Canyon along the way.

I was there a few weeks ago at the BLM visitor's center in Kanab where they do the Lottery. This was just before Labor Day. There was no line for the daily Lottery to the Wave! I was very surprised and asked the ranger why not, he said that they had a death there the day before due to flash flooding. Doh!
