Signed and FBd. Good lord, read the documents required for this project. The BLM has its head firmly planted up its ass. Do they really think that Ocotillo Express is going to do half of the items listed in the construction monitoring review? Sheep monitor, sheep movement monitor, environmental impact monitor, a biologist to sit in a tower and watch for sheep. And these monitors are supposed to have authority to stop construction if a sheep wanders within 365 feet of a construction site? I can see that construction superintendent telling Mr. Monitor to go piss up a rope because he has a deadline to meet and that damn sheep can go to Hell. Then they (OE) are supposed to mitigate damage and re vegitate the area when they are done. Wow! Is the BLM really that stupid?

Little cut out from the BLM report:
The Ocotillo Wind Energy Project will likely cost approximately $1 billion. Do the math for 25K homes + loss of 13K acres of open space.
You should also read Resolution E-4458 from the PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
Someone is going to get a big rate increase to pay for this mess.

Not a story anymore. There was an article in the paper today on a solar farm in Borrego. 300 acres producing about the same amount of energy 13,000 acres of wind farms.
I really think the numbers of what gets produced are posted inflated, Its all about getting the government subsidy.
I will guess that 90% of these projects, the materials and labor are from out of state. So California's green energy bill is a wind fall for other states.
Green energy is the threat to open spaces.97 TJ Buffed Out

Oh, and then in about 5 years, the company will fold and leave a mess behind that the tax payers will have to clean up. The owners of these companies will go form new green companies, and start the process all over again.
These green energy farms are one of the biggest threats to our sport, as they are sold to the public as protecting the environment from the carbon footprint emissions if using the oil products to make the same amount of energy as the solar or wind farms.
But, as mentioned above, it takes a huge army of equipment and materials to build these areas. The emissions from these could altimately be bigger than what they would save if they had build a smaller, hydrocarbon buring energy plant.
I work in a power plant for Chevron, and we produce less emissions from three turbines that generate 3 megawatts each in one day, than a car using a full tank of fuel in the same day.
Green energy companies and the groups that support them are not telling us everything about the foot print they use, and the energy needed to create these huge tracts of power generation plants.
